UCAN IS ON THE MOVE

July 28, 2008

Over the 4th of July weekend, the Josephine County office moved to a larger office located at 124 NW "D" Street, Grants Pass. After separating from the Josephine County government and merging with our partners to the north, UCAN Josephine County has been housed in a cramped, dimly lit office on "H" street. Now, with more room and a brighter environment, UCAN staff will be better equipped to serve the residents of Josephine County and develop new and better ways to fight poverty in our community.
The following weekend UCAN Douglas County consolidated many of it's services from two locations

in Roseburg into a brand new building located at 280 Kenneth Ford Drive. This project actually began 6 years ago with a capital campaign to raise funds to build the new building. The physical move was expertly coordinated by Chris Shoopman, whose many long hours are hugely appreciated! Connie Fame-Dotson and William Bettis also played key roles by coordinating architects, contractors, and utility and technical services to the site.
Next, came the move of UCAN Head Start's main office to ???? Umpqua Street, Roseburg. This move will bring the Head Start office from Dixonville into Roseburg proper making access to it's services more readily available. By dispersing classrooms throughout

Douglas county, Head Start is able to serve over 350 children and their families each year from all areas of the community.
With each of these moves, UCAN continues to fight the causes of poverty and provide much needed services to Douglas and Josephine Counties.
